Dampier?
ok i looked so i am ruling my self out. 3 is not the court marshalls but the number of charges?
NO. Not the number of charges.
The number of courts marshal. ( It is the courts that are plural, not the marshals )
It was Bligh. I thought when there were only two answers - Cook and Bligh and I replied "Not Cook"
Then some bright spark might have twigged.
Bligh faced 3 courts martial, and was exonorated at all 3.
You haven't answered the previous poster that put Bligh up yet?
Edit:
Sorry just read your post above.
Wot'bout Hornblower!
Here's one following on in a naval theme. Following the war of Independence which country did the USA base it's Navy operations on ?
Just guessing - Philippines perhaps?
:2tsup:
Bob, I know that the history of the war of independence and it's aftermath was pretty damned complex.
The French were involved for several reasons ( the main being that they were French ). The Spanish also
stuck their beak in.
Now with both these countries having colonies in the West Indies and central/South America the US was
probably permitted to operate from one of those.
