I know there was a thread was started years ago and for those of us who still see stupid things done by those NOT disabled. I couldn't post in the thread it was to old like most of us.
Today a visit to a nursing home to see MiL only disabled parking space taken by a tradie plenty others he could have parked in sorry no photo of that one. Place is in full reno with utes parked everywhere
On way home we usually stop for a Subway near Roselands on Canterbury Rd now this is a beauty photo taken.
I hope you ran over his sign.
did anyone go in and remind him its for disabled parking not signs.:( Bit pointless to show pics and not do something positive about getting the msg across. Unless more people start actively make a point it won't go away.

Pete now come on the whole world over this sign is standard for Disabled parking ONLY it is actually with in your road rule book also. Ok so they may not have a license.Quote:

There are numerous websites around called "you park like an idiot", "you park like a jacka$$" and "you park like an a$$hole". Google is your best friend. Maybe you should submit the picture :)

Unfortunately, this is a regular occurrence as we all know. Interestingly, we were at
a wedding in Bowral at the week-end. A guy, believed to be a leading light in the bikie bad world,
parked his red Ferrari in the disabled lot. I understand that an interesting note was left under the w/wiper,
but I cant confirm one way or the other that hotel management spoke to him. Hope so. Anyways the arrogance was breathtaking.

Wheeling I think you missed my point. I know its in road rules book and world wide but people still ignore it. Bringing it to the attention of the shop owner might have had a better result than pic on the forum. My wife has the same problem trying to get into a disabled park (yes she has the sticker) and doesn't hesitate to let them know its for disabled people not for all and sundry. Still doesn't change the attitude though so a hefty fine may just help as the hit to the pocket usually stops it if only for a while. Unfortunately respect has gone out the window for the me generation ...and a lot of adults of my generationQuote:

I agree with Avery .... just a slight nudge with the bumper and that sign would have folded over with a wonderful clang as it hit the concrete. I am sure that this could have driven the message home to the management. The placement of the space is fairly poor anyway, push it off to the side a little and leave a walkway to the door. With the disabled space you can have the additional width of the space encroach on the walkway anyway as it is for circulation. As it stands if somebody does park there then the visibility of your shop entry is reduced. Perhaps the management also find this, hence the sign location.
All good advice and suggestions.
We have a service station close by decided that they would reduce the size/width of the parking spot themselves, so we would then park further over which partially blocked the door. Other used to do the same, worst was then one of the staff started parking there. Finally someone must have reported the matter bay is now again full width and repainted.
Personally I do not think they should have them if every bay was wide enough to open the car door fully then there would be no problem.
All too many parking bays are made for mini's and the like not a falcon, toyota or commodore were the door is bigger to allow some of us easier access into the car or out of it AND I hate the doors hitting to car or post next to were we've had to park....my two bob's worth....cheers, crowieQuote:

I suggest that you send a copy of the photo, with date, time and address to the local authorities and let them do their bit. Most councils have strict permit requirements for all display signage, including A frames. In addition to getting busted for obstructing the Disabled Parking spot, they could be busted for contravening there signage permits, or failing to have the appropriate permits. Even if the authorities cannot act solely on your photgraphic evidence, it would alert them to the situation and they would monitor it and launch prosecutions based on their own observations.
This will go against the grain of some but...........have you considered that the shop owner may not have put the sign there?
It could well have been moved there by boisterous kiddies. If the wind was blowing it may have been blown there or in a case I saw recently a person in a wheelchair who had just parked in one spot, removed a traffic cone and placed it in the adjoining parking spot to "reserve" it for her friend who was coming to meet her.
A little calm word with the shop owner would probably have sorted the problem out with no angst unless he/she was a complete a'hole in which case then go to town on them.
