What's killing my Grevillias?

O.K. I know I should ask this on a gardening forum, but as I don't belong to any, and the members of this place collectively have such a broad knowledge, I'll ask it here. :)

Lately my gervillias have started carking it. These are plants that have been in for around 4.5 years and up until now have been doing quite well. Suddenly they've stared dieing. So far I've lost a Robyn Gordon, another larger one who's name escapes me and a Royal Mantle ground cover.

They have all been in the same bed. They go from being healthy to dead in about a week.

I'm thinking it may be a fungus as the larger one did have a sort of bracket fungus looking thing on it's trunk.

So what is is, and if it's a fungus, how do I stop it from killing the rest of my grevillias?

Have a bit of a dig around in the ground there and see if you can find any borer type insects.

Pull out one of the dead shrubs and inspect it. Look for obvious entry/exit points. Take the smallest one down to your local nursery and ask them what killed it

I asume that they are not tooo wet???
Pull one out and smell the roots if there is a really bad odour it could be a soil borne desiese. Phytophthora?, I dont know if you if you have it down there but it is a big problem to Avacardo growers and affects garden plants also up here.
Take it to a nersery and ask their opinion.

I've already pulled up the shrubs and disposed of them so I can't take them to a nursery unfortunately.

I still have the ground cover so I'll pull that up and check it.

I don't think they'll be too wet, were in our third (or is it fourth?) year of drought down here.

Just buy some new ens and bung em in......

No I don't think so Peter. I have three more Robyn Gordon's in the same bed that are (for the moment :rolleyes: ) just bursting with flowers and new growth.

I'm just afraid that next week they'll be ex-grevillias :eek:
