Any ideas how this could work structurally?

Hi guys,

I am adding an extra gable to my house like the pic below

I want to have an open room underneath where the new gable meets the existing roof like this

Here is a view with the roof partially removed, showing the new rafters and ridge beam. I'm struggling trying to get my head around how this will work, in particular support for the gable end with the angular windows shown in red.

I'm thinking I will need to put a post and beam in at the base of the new gable end like this.
