My water supply comes up the south east side wall of my house. Being the south east the sun sits on it and makes the cold water run quite warm for about 10 seconds. I know that not much but aside from the wate of water its a pain in the ear. I figured I'd need some sort of insulation in tthe wall. but dont know what type.
Any ideas?

Get some of that black or grey tubular insulation. You may have to cut one side off it to fix it to the pipe against the wall. You will find this at most hardware stores or plumbing supplies.
I would then box it in with some timber and then paint it white. The black insulation will break down over time if the sun is shining on it.

If it worries swhmbo tell her the truth, you have to shade the wall.
1. Then build a shed or a carport there even if only used as a timber store.
2. But a nice patio might also be an option.
3. If short on loot put something there and plant a creeper.
What sort of wall is it? Fibro. If it is a simple way of doing it would to cut some holes above the tap height and fill the cavity up with some granulated rock wool insulation and then cut some patches of fibro and patch the holes up.
Plant a tree for shade?

That should make it simple. Just slip a board out above where the tap is and fill it up to above the pipe and refit the board.
