Hello all,
I have recently come across Swarts Tools in my search for a not really expensive (less than $300, not ozito, min 10") SCMS. It seems that they have a 12" SCMS for $250, with a balde, etc included (see link below)
Does anyone have experience with these guys, and it is just too good to be true??
Swarts Tools - 305mm Sliding Compound Mitre Saw Drop Saw
I don't know about the saw, but I picked up some of their multi-tool blades at the wood show and I've been happy - they weren't insta-junk so at least as good as the other cheapies I've picked up.
I recently purchased the Swarts Tools 305mm sliding compound mitre saw. Having carried out a lot of research and testing on some of the common brands I was not comfortable with the sub $500 machines in general. I came across the Swarts Tools machine with some good features for the price. I took a chance and ordered it. The price of $380 delivered with all the features is an excellent price. Unpacking and installing the machine and the stand (an extra $120) took about 15 minutes. Nothing complicated. The cuts were absolutely accurate straight out the box. A test cut on an old railway sleeper gave the machine no problems. The quality is similar to most mid-range popular brands. The goods points are that the machine slides on fixed arms so installing close to a wall is not an issue. The fixed arms also seem to stabilize the machine as there is no play. Mitre stops are accurate. It has an excellent cut depth and width. The 100 tooth blade gives an ultra-smooth cut. The clamping system is among the best I have come across. Some negative points are that although the machine does move beyond the 45 degree miter it is not marked. The casting was slightly rough in one patch. The rear controls for the bevel adjustment are slightly awkward, as with most mid-range saws. The angle indicators are slightly off the reading scale so viewing the angle takes some care. If you are looking for a mid-range machine at a low range price you can purchase this one with confidence. An added bonus is the support – you talk directly to the expert. And it comes with a three year warranty.

There have been a number of posts on this topic from new members/first time posters Aldav. I'm with you!
Careful you two. Last time I pointed out something similar I received some very stroppy posts (from just such a poster who then seemed to disappear into thin air I might add). But, it does seem a bit like Deja Vue.
I must say that I have begun to regret being the OP who reviewed the original machine. So much angst from a simple desire to communicate with fellow woodies. I did not set out to cause anyone pain.
If the seller and this poster are to be believed the new models are a big advancement on the original one that I bought. It's a shame they didn't take me up on my offer to swap old for new. If they had I might have been able to confirm the situation. I'm not asking for that again though - no room in the shed nor in my life!
