Hi all

Always wanted to join a woodwork forum and heard this was a good one. I have been teaching and working in the timber trades for 32 years now. I have a vast knowledge of all timber trades and want to help out anyone with a problem. I have a fully stocked workshop and collect Wadkin and Robinson machinery. I have three lathes, one has 4.5m between centres, one has 2.4m diameter and the other is a Wadkin RS. I am a commercial woodturner and teacher of Shipbuilding, Joiner, Shopfitting, Carpentry, Composites and of course woodturning. I also teach D&T in high schools and tutor to year 11&12 students. I would like to participate in this forum when I can. If you have any questions for me send me a post.

Welcome to the Forum.
Looks like amongst your many talents you're a lathe man. I haven't gotten to lathes (as yet), there's a limit to how many bowls one can use !
I have a query about glue.
I am making an 8 piece dining setting from dry, local Ironbark. I've been using Fullers cross linked PVA glue and so far, I am impressed with its performance. No screws, nail or dowels used. My query:
How long do you reckon this glue will last in the mortise and tenons in the chairs ?
If you were doing what I'm doing, what glue would you use ?

I too use fullers cross link PVA, it is a good glue and holds well. I use it for general purpose joinery and cabinetmaking and should do the job you want. When I build chairs i like to make sure that they don't come apart so I use a 2 pak epoxy.
