Mackay Rentals

Hi Guys,
Been offered a job in Mackay which I have accepted subject to being able to find accomodation.
I can go $250 a week rent but that puts me right on the line financially so I would like to spend less if I can.
I don't need big or flash, 1 bed or even a studio unit will do, all I want is quiet, secure and parking for a car and (quiet) motorbike.
I will not share but would take a granny flat if it's completely self contained.

Surely there must be a landlord who would rather rent for a few less dollars and have a tenant who is in a secure government job rather than a miner who may be gone in the short term.

I'm looking on the usual websites but I'm hoping someone here could give me a heads up on something that's not being advertised.
