House extension - Slide in colorbond or extend roof frame?

Hello everyone,

We have an existing verandah in the back of our house which we would like to convert into a proper room. Long story short, we will need to build 3 walls (fibro/blueboard on the outside and gyprock on the inside) and a new roof. The existing floor is concrete with tiles over it and we will leave it as it is.

The existing verandah has colorbond roof BELOW the house's gutters. As you can imagine, the ceiling is quite low (2m). The main purpose of this renovation is to raise the roof and so far we've came up with 3 ideas.

1. Slide the new colorbond roof into the 3rd or 4th row of the existing tiles of the house. With this method, we can probably get 2.4m ceiling.
2. Remove tiles in the back half of our house, then extend the current roof frame all the way to the back covering the new room. Cover the whole house with tiles looking like a complete house with no extention. With this method, we should be able to go as high we like.
3. Have a box gutter between the house and the new room - We've pretty much rejected this idea as most people reckons that roof leaking will be a matter of time!

We have some builders that reckon method 2 is better (due to it being a proper extension), and some builders reckon we can only do method 1 because no one is certain that the existing flooring can support the extra tiles (colorbond is light).

Obviously method 2 will be more expensive but we are willing to pay the extra money if its really that much better.

Question:
Which method would you choose? Is it true that there is a possibility that the existing floor can't support the new tiles of method 2?
