I have recently purchased an old art deco buffet (roughly 1930's-1940's) that i want to restore.
I would love some tips about how to go about restoring the wood and also about where i may be able to find some replacement wood inlays for the doors are parts of it are missing.

That will turn out so nice once it has been repaired.

I'm sure someone there does restoration work and would be able to help.
It is unusual that the cabinet has veneer on it given the style.
Reapplying some veneer to those areas wouldn't be too hard but matching the stain or colour so it doesn't look " repaired " will be the trickiest part.
I'd hazzard a guess and say Queensland maple is the timber and probably shellac for the laquer.
Other more informed forumites may have a better idea though.

That is a shame, it looks like it was at one stage a nice piece,...
Making the missing sections will not be that difficult but getting the correct colour will be . Try and find a furniture course that will be able to teach this , colour is so difficult , it is much better to learn from an antique furniture restorer .
