I have stripped the banister rail (of paint) on a Victorian terrace. The wood looks like oak. To return the rail to its former glory what should I do with it now.
Many thanks

I would seal the wood buy brushing a cost of polyurethane mixing it with 50% turpentine. Leave it for a few days to dry. Light sand the wood then apply a few coats of oil finish like Tung oil or linseed oil.
Many thanks for the advice. Looking at your web site it certainly looks like you know what you're talking about. Many thanks. Rob (some lovely pieces of furniture)
