Finding someone for custom work

It has been a while since I have been here... but I am glad I still have my login.

Is there any recommended way of finding a wood worker for custom work? I want to find someone who is good, skilled, sensitive and understanding. I don't want to risk getting something dodgy, or getting ripped off. I need someone who can listen to what I want and compassionately make what I need. I just don't know the best way to find someone (preferably in Sydney).

The piece I am after is a box for ashes for my baby boy ( :C ) and I haven't found anything I like anywhere. I am thinking of getting something made. But I will be fussy - a perfectionist. Anything less than perfect will not be right. And I need someone to understand how important this piece will be.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to finding someone?

I am continually being blessed with the "right" people coming into our lives with love and blessings and the talent we need when we need them. Wongo's work is amazing, and he lives just up the road, so to speak...

I think Avery has once again lead someone special into our lives.

(Avery was born still two weeks ago today, and today we brought him home from the crematorium)

Such sadness and (hopefully) happiness in peace for you tianakaesha.

I am quite honestly sobbing as I type this; at your loss (being a recent new father myself) and at how a fantastic craftsman like Wongo is onto it, a project ever so deeply serious and meaningful, without batting an eyelid.

My very deepest condolences to you and yours.

This is so sad, being a father to a two yr old girl myself I really feel for you.

I hope this box turns out exactly as you wish and helps ease your pain some how.

On a practical level if wongo or yourself wish to pm your bsb, or address ,I'd be happy to make a donation towards it's cost or a memorial etc.

It has been only one month since Avery was born... almost 5 weeks. It's seriously been a really crappy time. The fog is thicker on some days than others.

Feel free to contact wongo directly for a donation... I've gotta call him in the next couple of weeks when it's all not so raw and then we can start on the project.. my design, his skill..

I am blessed to have been part of this forum already and knew exactly where to come when I decided I needed a craftsman. This is a great resource.
