Good Morning Friends,
WOOD Magazine did a shop test on plunge routers and found that for the three depth settings systems compared, the following tools were good, better and best;
1. Good, Ryobi RE180PL, 2. Better, DeWalt DW621, 3. Best, Bosch 1613AEVS
Now my quiz is why is there a need for having a plunge router in the first place?

The obvious question in Oz would be,
Why is there a need for fixed base routers??
Yes I was going to say that over here in the good old US of Australia, it's pretty hard to buy a router that doesn't have a plunge action.
I did see one in a shop in Bendigo about 4 years ago
I saw one in a photo in Woodsmith.
They are so popular here that GMC sold out their entire stock earlier this year for $39.00 as I recall.

Well now, ain't this the pits? You fellows in the land down under are way ahead of some of the would be woodworkers here in the US.
Most of our woodworkers here have to be proven to why they should buy a plunge router and here you guys, wonder why not have on in every shop.
The quiz was to try to bring out the following reasons for owning one.
1. Make stopped flutes and dadoes.
2.Cut mortises with a router.
3. Use keyhole slots in your projects.
4. Routinely rout deep slots requiring several progressively deeper cuts.
5. Create signs with recessed letters.
6 Add an inexpensive through the table lift to your pouter.
7 Buy only one router.
There was the reasons for buying a plunge router, that you blokes already knew.
