Carba-tec router table

I bought a Carba-tec router table (an RT 660) a few days ago and linked it to my Hitachi 2HP plunge router. I'm very happy with the table but I was disappointed to find that an owner's manual is intentionally not supplied. I may not be in same league of expertise as many of the people contributing to the forum so I would be interested to read any comments that anybody wants to make about the product or router tables in general. What to do, what not to do and so on. Perhaps there is an archived thread which covers this. I am new to this forum and as yet I have not looked thoroughly to see if this sort of info exists in the archived section. Apologies if I'm going old ground

Best advice is buy some cheap pine and have a play with it. Do not use wet wood is another thing, the smoke and fumes are blinding and the machine is liable to grab the stock and throw it. Other than that its experience that lets you see how fast to move the stock so as to get a clean burn free cut. And descent cutters help, some of the cheaper ones just aint worth the money.

I also have the RT660 router table, very sturdy, excellent to work with. I added a remote on/off switch to the table leg to avoid the continual bending over to use the Router switch (under the table) and found the Vernier Height Gauge very handy for setting the depth of cut.
I am just a tad dissapointed that Carba-tec dont make a Router Raiser to fit their table, none of them will unless you wish to do some milling and filing of the table.
Otherwise, after about 6 years of use, very happy.

I have the RT660 brought it about 6ys ago have been looking for owner's manual only to find out that there is not one!
However I have put a raising device made out a Holden jack will send Pics in the next day or so may be of some help to you

Here are the pics I promised I think its pretty well self explanetory you can change the bits through the top of the table.
Lock with the leaver on the router and tighten the depth guide so it will not move I have cut the front under side of the table out a bit to make it easer to see locking lever! works well I used a Holden jack

different idea there, I am currently looking at a lever type to aleviate the bendy bendy down thingy when adjusting/winding for height etc, the old back aint what she used to be, starts to ache like hell after about an hour of routing with multiple passes.
I am curious as to what Roger Gifkins has under his table, very fast raise and lower in demo video.
Oh well, necessity is the mother of invention.

You can wind the router up and down from the front without bending over to much! The other thing that is a problem with router tables is changing the bits, you may have to pull the router out of the table in saying that I think the new tables have hinges on the top.
RT660 that’s the one I have and by using the jack method you can change the tools through the top of the table I have Hitachi TR12 router in my table.

With Roger Gifkins table the router screws direct to the table it is a Triton model TRA001. By taking the springs out of the plunge part of the mechanism and with the quick adjustment mechanism that is unique to the Triton routers. It makes it very quick and easy because of the length of travel on the plunger you are able to change the bits through the top of the table I have the router and the table have not used it yet I hope I have explained everything ok if not I will have another go

been there, called into Carbatec in Brisbane last December and looked as well,
CARBATEC LIFTER WILL NOT FIT THE CARBATEC TABLE.
can you believe that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Voiced my disbelief and suggested they get their Do Do togeather and make one that does.
I will be OK in regards the instruction book, thanks for the offer though

Are there any woodworkers interested in a manual of Rt 660RT its pretty basic but it might help!
For my self I just like to have it after looking for six years and I now have one if you PM me I will send a copy I am reluctant to post article because of copy right and I think a PM would be ok if wrong please tell I do not wish to do the wrong thing again ! Married 40 yrs :p:p
