Welcome to the forum LuckDuck. Nice to have another handplane fettler onboard.
:)
Welcome luckduck. Plenty of plane lovers around here to chat to!
There's more than two, we just don't go on about it........much.
;):D
i put my planes on my writing desk which is right next to my bed, its the next best thing outside of sleeping with em. I like to use a simple sharpening jig when i hone as it leaves a uniform strip of light at the cutting edge, real nice stuff. I wonder how many plane fettlers hone by hand.
...mine have a shelf in the garage with a few stuffed toys, a flat screen tv and a spa instead...
I use a guide for the bigger blades, but the spokeshaves and the #78 blade get done by hand. I find that as long as I keep even pressure on the end of the blade I don't rock it much if at all.
My collection, if you could call it that, is all quite old though so there's still a lot of work to be done on them to get them working really well. Off to the local glass place today to try for plate glass to use with the scary sharp system, haven't given that a go yet.
Welcome to the forum. I never Knew we had plane fettlers aboard, but there is lots I don't know:oo:
