Don't you love reporters?
Trying to interview a rescue worker while he is obvious very busy.
NZ_carver I am glad all the family is safe :2tsup: hope you get flights out for them ASAP.
ABC24 gets my vote, as when compared to the other channels :(
Good grief, was recently joking on another forum about climbing the old Canterbury rubble for mountaineering practice.
Hope Jock and other forum members are OK.
Was agog when I turned on the TV this afternoon just after the broadcast started I think.
Shocking stuff! Thoughts go to all our Kiwi Mates.
Let's put it down to the reporters being right on the scene when the disaster happened, some of the media were obviously in shock.
Any forum members in Christchurch? Hope you're OK.
Nowhere near as much damage North of the Waimakariri River this time. Things fell off shelves but we didn't lose power or water.
The City is a mess.
Cheers Ern ,
me and mine are ok :2tsup: ,
the house , the yard and the roads are not tho :D
No power or water at home (Woolston), so over the other side of town (Hoon Hay) with family.
I missed the last two (was in Dunedin) , caught this one tho , now I feel right at home
It's devastating, I have family over there but they are all okay.
I just keep picturing all the beautiful old buildings, terrible.
Good luck with the clean-up/rebuild Jock.
...
When I saw on the news that the Cathedral spire had toppled I wondered whether folk would take it as a sign; but then the Catholic cathedral also got damaged .... so that's pretty even handed ;-}
Anybody heard from Muzz?
I know he is south of there but he has family in Christchurch.
Good grief.
I recall listening to an interview with the Chancellor of Canterbury Uni., a Maori if that's relevant, and he said that governments are slow moving and have a short memory. Spot on.
Apologies for the digression.
