Old "Triton Wood Finishing Oil"?

I acquired a little container of Triton Wood Finishing Oil is a stash I inherited! Says it can be used on turned items as well as furniture, and instructions read like "hard burnishing oil" Apparently it is "formulated solely from highly refined natural plant oils." Anyone used this product? Or now anything about it? No dates or hint of a formula anywhere on it! :shrug:

Sounds like rebadged Organoil hard burnishing oil.

Not bad stuff but will often raise the grain several weeks after use. A PITA in my experience.

I think this stuff is PRE Organoil. No warnings about combustion on it or anything. So pre over the top OH&S!:rolleyes:

Ah, well suck it and see. Maybe with an ice cube or two ;-}

Have you opened it? Likely to have balls of goo in it or worse if it had driers in it which Organoil swore off.

Hi,
As far as I know Triton Oil was always made by Organol, not quite to the same formula as hard burnishing oil but just about as good, according to the Guru him self when giving us a demo on both.
They are both supposed to last indefinitely if not contaminated.

Have a 1L and a 500mL that where included as bonuses when I bought Triton router bits or saw blades in the GMC ebay clearances a couple of years ago. Unopened, still liquid (sloshes, no rattles or thuds if I shake the cans). Sitting at the bottom of the mountain if you need some more to make it worthwhile to use on a job.

Thanksd for the offer! But I'm only finishing really small turned boxes. I think I have enough to cover this job at least! :U (I wonder if e veryone who has some got it thrown in with something else? :rolleyes::D )

Rebadgad organoil. Pretty sure there was no difference between the 2, just the speil. Should be as good as gold. Even better when followed up with a coat Shellawax (liquid). :U

Really? Doesn't that turn it into a shellawax finish then? :think: I want an oil finish. Or maybe a Danish oil finish!:shrug: :)
