I may sound heartless but I believe human life is more important than that of a wild animal. And yes I am an amimal lover and have reared orphaned roos more than once but would never put myself or others lives in danger to rescue one.

You are a brave man :-) the thought had occurred to me but whether child or animal both are innocent victims who don't understand what's happening and both deserve a second chance.
The fact he was potentially putting others at risk if they had to rescue him is a moral quandary that would apply if the rescued was a human baby as well I guess.
Being a vegan for moral reasons the comparison is a little less clear for me as I strongly believe both animal and human have similar moral value and I would risk my life for both.
I too have my flak jacket on for that last :-)
