Remove post from alfresco area

Hi All
I have this alfresco area that measures 5.9 long x 4.1 meters wide supported by a 200x50 beam,the area that concerns me is the 5.9 meter section that has a steel post positioned at 2.9 meters,it is this post that I would like to remove,question is ,if removing this post do I remove the beam or do i plate it with steel on both sides ,or is it suitable to be left
