G'day / Hi from New Zealand!

Hi everyone, thought I’d say hi as I’ve just joined this forum. It’s been a very long time since I’ve done any sort of machine shop work (school in fact!) but I’ve always liked tools and design/ working materials, and never had the opportunity to do much with it. Now I’ve the inclination, I just need the money, the skill/ training, the time…! :D

A few things prompted me to join here- it’s based in NZ/Australia, I have an on-again/ off-again table project I’ve had for a few years(!), and a workmate asked me about table saws for cabinet making, two things I know nothing about! But I wanted to find out more… so here I am.

Also, I saw a very nice coffee table a few years back- nothing fancy other than that the lids opened up to make magazine reading stands and opened up storage areas. Price? $2000! Surely I can make it for less… yeah right! lol


Anyhow, I’ve been yabbering too long, so I’ll say hi, finish here and look forward to being part of this forum. Cheers!

We're all good here thanks! No aftershocks in a while, repairs around the city underway and a few demolitions (which are sad)... yeah, we're back on track :cool:

Serious cold snap though, brrrr chilly! Brass monkeys at the mo!! :D

Got the weekend to myself, I might even try to picture and even finish off my project...

I only moved down here to Dunedin for a year or so , but it looks as tho I won't be able to move back home for a while , due to the accommodation shortage :U.
Still , there might be a bit of building work coming up , once the insurance starts paying out eh.

Yeah, there will be a fair bit of it- plenty of places being demolished and rebuilt, or getting jacked up and repaired (read: demolished and rebuilt). Plenty of work coming up, so start distributing fliers and placing ads now! :D

It is correct to start a sentence with capital letters .
Also , it is correct , and polite , to use a capital letter when writing the name of a country , in full and , in the abbreviated form.

Of note here is that you are the one that capitalized both the h and the i in hi.
No one else in this thread did so ,which I leaves me wondering why you attributed your 'thing' to another person .
Is that common practice in the Unites States ?

Jock, looking at the post and the ad below same Id say we're dealing with a forum spammer here. We get 'em over on the ANZLF forum.....they join up, leave an often bizarely worded post that is totally irrelevant to the thread, include a weblink to a randomly selected legitimate business at the bottom of their post and then a bit later they put up a spam post.
