Mixed bag

Bit of a mixed bag for the family this week.

Had news yesterday that a cousin I had met for the first time at an aunty's funeral 3 weeks ago had died due to an aneurism.

And today my sister, three brothers and I , along with wives, celebrated mum's 89th birthday in Ballina. A happy sad time in some respects as mum has dementia/Alzheimers and needs high care. She was very happy to see us all, so that was great.

Sorry to hear of your mum.

Sounds like my time 2 years ago Arthur 4 deaths in the family all with in 4 months, 2 new grand children around the same period, a daughters wedding then me and heart. Now looking ahead to a 4th grandchild due February.

All makes you think about your own mortality.

As someone remarked at the aunty's funeral, we only seem to get together to give someone a final send off. Bit sad really.
