You folks in Australia sure have some unusual animals. At least, they are unusual to us who don't live there. A friend sent me an e-mail and pictures about your blue crabs. My goodness, they are huge. And edible. If you like crabmeat one could dine hugely on those. Seems you wouldn't need to do much shopping with all the crawling, walking goodies you have.
The price of crabs is very high
but I think that they have the best taste of all.
If you live in FNQ like one of our members, it is just a matter of pulling the crab traps up and selecting your meal.

All the good seafood goes to Japan and we import rubbish prawns and farmed fish from Vietnam.
In the good old days, you could collect a meal of prawns with a net whenever the moon was dark in certain lakes.
Now???
It's high quality Vietnam prawns.
Blue swimmer crabs are tasty but small. Mud crabs are by far the best for flesh.
Your lobsters though are pretty good and they catch some big king crabs up there in the north. I don't think you do too badly... unless you too have Vietnam prawns... sorry shrimps...
.....I guess you may have now you can't eat the ones in the Mexican BP bay area.

Years ago I spent a couple of days in Natchez I know its not Arkansas but there was a restaurant of the edge of the Missssippi that took no bookings but peple waited up to 2 hours to eat Catfish. Best fish Ive ever eaten.
I amble down to the wharf here and usually can buy tuna, prawns oysters etc etc
dont think you can get to mutch crab.
believe me u can.

We have blue manna crabs over here in WA. Or at least we used to before the tourists came and ate all the undersize ones.

I have just loaded the Esky with half a dozen nice big lobsters to share Big Stan, U, Beaut and crew at the Adelaide woodshow. Good tucker but cab would be nice but it's too cold for blue swimmers down here in the sunny south east.
the little blue ones don't hurt as much as the big green ones when they grab hold of your finger though.
Any one know the name of the prawn farm in north Queensland i was given some and they were very good ,big about 3 or 4 on a sandwitch and good tasteing too.only $10 kg .Lloyd
