timber onto brick

G'day, wasnt sure where to put this one as it's not quite a decking or screening question.
I plan on screening off the sub floor at the front of the house with timber. At the moment i have brick on the front of the house beneath the weatherboard and am in the process of knocking out bricks to improve ventilation.
I plan on using hardwood and was wondering if there is any problems such as termites or will the timber be a 'dinner bell' for the white ant buggers!

Any alternate ideas would be great too
