Sanding Sealer or Grain Sealer

Ok,This could be obvious but what is the difference between Sanding Sealer and Grain Sealer or are they the same.?

I want to seal some ash ,due to the open grain,before I use tung oil on it (Previous post - No answer)

This is for a guitar body.

Traditional type sanding sealer is used after sanding to raise the grain so it can be sanded off smoothly, modern sanding sealer is used more for filling the grain prior to applying the final finish.

Grain sealer usually refers to end grain sealer. This is applied to ligs etc to retard splitting. It has no application in finishing.

Personally I wouldn't be using anything under tung oil as it relaay needs to key to the timber to work to its full advantage.

Maybe what you really mean is grain filler. This is basically a thin putty that is applied to fill the grain prior to finishing. If the guitar is acoustic I wouldn't use grain filler as it will most likely deaden the resonance qualities of the timber somewhat.

I wont use the filler so I will just use the Tung oil which is the Feast Watson China Wood Oil.
