Another for the computer gooroos

spybot does not like Smiley Central (Fun Web) is there a valid reason? Is it safe to have Smiley Central?

I ended up with that Mysearch on my computer and all attemps to remove it has failed. When I ran Spybot it found 280 files which was slowing down my computer no end. I deleted them all with Spybot but it didn't get rid of MySearch.

Once I save all my files etc I am going to reformat my C drive and with a few safeguards, XP Service Pack 2 and not down loading any free crap I might be safe.

Baz, there is a downloadable removal tool for the "MysearchNow" spyware. I can e-mail it if you like. The "mysearchnow" most annoying browser hijacker normally is received with MSN Messenger Plus or other adons for such programs. You have to read all the fine print and select custom installation to avoid getting it.

I have gone away from Spybot and now use Adaware and Pest Patrol.

Thanks for that I've been trying to get rid of that for months. I reckon my computer is running twice as fast now.:D

I guess I must be lucky. After reading replies I removed the rest of the 'targets' from add/remove programs, rebooted and it appears that mytotal web search is gone. Fingers crossed. Smiley central is gone from Outlook Express as well.
I looked at a web site that had a free removal program download, and advice on removal via the way that I did it.

Baz, Glad to help. Do to the fact that Geeks are right into FOI, everything they do generally ends up on the web. If you have a problem with your confuzer then chances are somebody else has had it too. Google is your friend.:)

I thought I had got rid it of too before I got the program from Sqizzy but it came back after running Spybot and when I rebooted.

But Sqizzy's program fixed it in its tracks.

Why did you have to say that, Baz, I will run spybot and see what happens. I didn't get the offer of the email from Squizzy. maybe you can put in a good word for me.

If at first you don't succeed, failure may be your thing.

If you are using Internet Explorer (and most of you probably are) you can go to Tools => Internet Options => Advanced

Remove the check mark from Enable third-party browser extensions

This will reduce the ability of other software to integrate itself with IE and hijack you're home page, though not eliminate it.
