Can anyone please advise if I should use steel wool between applying coats of oil?
Thank you,
I don't use it between coats of oil, I just put one coat over the other. I only sand between coats of estapol or similar.
I was going to use Tru oil- Gunstock product used in wood finishing. And don't particularly was a high gloss finish so will go and fins some steel wool.
Thank you,
Irene
Hi Ipdulce,
Apply the secondary coatings of oil with a an abrasive cloth pad and you will kill two birds with one stone. The grey pad is about the right abrasive grade: it equates to close to 400 grit they tell me at the speciality paint shop in Hobart. I use it on turnings for applying hard burnishing oil and it works great for that.
