Options for roof of extension

Hi Guys

great forum have been sneaking around a bit so far...
my wife and i are going through the motions, we are planning on doing an extension...eventually!! :)

we are planning to go 6m off the back of our house, the whole width of the house which is 12m. of this 12m 6 will be our lounge room. all this is planning to be under a skillion roof.

my question is, what are my options for going across the 6m span in term of structure. have had discussion with numerous people some suggesting I beams and what not.

i just want to be on the right track when i initiate some builders to help out.

what can you guys recommend.
