Replace / extend structural beam above sliding door.

G'day, first post so haven't introduced myself yet.

Working on our first reno and have been using this forum to answer many of my questions just by reading previos posts and FAQ. However was unable to find an answer to this one so here goes...

I am removing a two door slider and replacing with a 3 door slider and need to increase the opening.
There is currently a laminated beam above the existing door that measures 2365 x 160 x 65 and also has 5 chocs @110 from the top of the beam to the ceiling. I am not sure if it is load bearing.
The new beam needs to be 2625mm


Q1
Can I simply extend the beam some how?

Q2
If no to Q1 do I buy a beam that is the same dimensions but longer eg 2625 x 160 x 65 and still use chocs?
OR do I buy a beam that is 2625 x 270 (160 + 110 chocs) x 65

Q3
What is best option?
What is cheapest option?
Does the beam need to be laminated?

As I am new to this please keep advice simple, I don’t fully understand all the structural and building terms… yet… but am getting better having read many of the other posts here.
