Do You Need Rain In Sydney

I hear on our U.K. news Sydney area is suffering drought problems, if this is so SEND FOR ME.
I never have an holiday unless it rains (buckets) and just to proove it see attached picture of me on holiday in Sydney IN THE RAIN.
This picture was taken in Sydney this year about 17th January. We went to Greece 3 months earlier and guess what they had floods whilst we were there.
In fact I have never had an holiday without lots of rain, even our honeymoon 48 years ago it rained every day for a fortnight.(lovely)

Have you ever read So Long and Thanks for All the Fish by Douglas Adams? It the forth book in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy trilogy. It had a truck driver character in it that the rain followed everywhere. The character wasn't based on you was it?

BTW, when you come to Australia just make sure you stay away from the cities where the cricket is being played.

It always rains in Sydney, in sunny Melbourne we pray for the rain Sydney receives to break our drought.

Seriously, we are on "level 2" water restrictions and could really do with a good drenching. Especially over the dam catchment areas where it never seems to bloodywell rain !

From the porter at the Holiday Inn..He ran short that day. The rain was so bad that when we went into a Sydney restaurant that day we felt like we were sitting at the table in our swiming costumes.

Here at the glorious Sunshine Coast we have had the second driest winter on record....24mm in three months (apparently)!

Last year, when undertaking the minor renovation, we had the wettest March and May on record, and eight days over that period with more than 100mm a day. You weren't here then were you?

All I know is that we took our roof off with 5 clear days forecast, and had 125mm (seven inches) of precipitation before we could get it back on!

Then we planted an entirely new garden and it hasn't rained ever since!

Theres been a large puddle just outside our front gate thats been there for months. Down in South West Victoria I have had to mow the lawns weekly in mid summer as theres been good rainfall and the blasted grass just keeps on growing. But the cows love it, thats why you can still get milk in the cities.

There's a few farmers who would love to have you take a holiday and stay with them. They would probably pay for your airfare when you produced the goods.

This could be a very lucrative sideline for you.

I've only just twigged, you live in Devon - home of my very favourite Theme Park of all Time! Yes folks ; Diggerland

You must have been home last time we were there because we stopped for a sanger at the Dig Inn and there was a fair bit of precipitation!!

Yeah its hard to believe that the 5 catchments that cover 16,000 square kilometres to make up the Sydney water catchment never get any rain fall, I wonder who decided to put them in locations that never get rain :confused: maybe they just tell us it doesnt get rain so that we stick to the restrictions.

Very tempting suggestion. I'll pay my own fares though, just in case I'm lucky for a change.

It's almost true - they are in a rain shadow area and often miss out on rain that the coast gets - depends a bit on where the rain's coming from.

They were chosen because they had good topography to build dams - unfortunately, if you build dams on the coast they can usually only be small, and most of the dam sites on the west of the ranges have been used.
