Do I have to paint both sides of the timber??

G'day,
I am using baltic pine weatherboards which are pre-primed both sides.
If I then paint only on the outer side, will it matter that there is only one coat of primer on the inside ie. cupping etc?

In theory no because the timber is sealed all round, except for the cut ends that is if you don't prime them

the ends are apparently the place most likely to rot and I have read that they should be sealed properly. Should I use polyurethane sealant such as Sikaflex as was suggested or is there a cheaper alternative that can be overpainted and is uv stable.

Can't advise on the sealant. What I'd be doing is just ensuring the cut ends got a real good dolop of proper timber primer.
