building a frame for a stacked stone facade
Hi,
I am looking to attach a facade of stacked stone around the perimeter of a window. the facade will protrude 600mm off the wall plane. It is actually the front of my house, which has standard framing, brick piers, so it is old construction (50+ year). Once attached, the stone will weight around 250kg. The lining will be blueboard, to which I will glue the stone.
Would the above pose a structural problem for the house? What is the best and safest way to build the the frame for the facade and attach it to the framing of the wall?
I am happy to reinforce the framing if necessary. please have a look at attached schematic pic.
The frame would be twooverlapping rectangles 3mx1.2m each as per the drawing.
Your input is much appreciated.
