A kitchen from scratch!!??

Hi All,
I have a problem - SWMBO has decreed that there must be a new kitchen.
It must have certain attributes and it must be in place by end of June 2010.:o

Has anyone here been mad enough to make a kitchen from scratch? (professional kitchen makers are excempt of course):D

I've been doing some research and got some books. It seems doable BUT.....
Come on guys, let me know about all the pain I'm gonna heap upon myself:)(
Should I take the leap or go with flat packs?
