Finish for cypress pine floors

Hi, Just bought a 1960's house and pulled up all the old carpet, etc, (though I am still struggling with all the little staples) and have revealed the cypress pine floorboards which are in really good nick. I would like to sand and polish them, but I am really confused about what type of finish to use. I am not big on high gloss finishes on timber, preferring a more satin type finsh. So my questions are what kind of finish should I use water-based, oil-based, tung oil or ? And what brands are the best? Thanks for your help!
