Good luck/Bad luck

Sometimes I think the working man is never meant to get ahead. I had a friend of mine with a small engineering business offer me 4 weeks of cash-in-hand work leading up to Christmas. Great I thought ~3 G's in the hand will see a very nice Christmas for the family. Took the car to the mechanics tonight as there was a rattle coming form the engine bay. Looks like I've done a big end bearing, minimum of $1200 prolly closer to $1700 depending on if the conrod overheated and distorted, plus the earliest I'll get the car back is Friday week :((. Bugga, in one hand, out the other.

Yeah Jim, it affects you too as a fair share of the loot was earmarked for a Tormek, with turners kit as well.

BTW I would have thought even $1700 was cheap to pull the big ends apart. Depends on car I guess.

Still, better to have something coming in so that you can pay for something that needs to be done. It's much worse when there's a drought on and cost of living is there as it always has been.

You could sell the car (reduced value because of motor probs

Buy a pushbike for a couple of hundred - leaving change from car sale

That means you have more money for tools from Jim - like a tormek and a 250 stubby as well as keeping fit living longer to enjoy the new toys.
