Upside down Air Con?

It has come to the time of year again that I am wishing I had some cold air inside the house.
This thought usually occurs twice a year. The other time I wish I had some heat.

The house I am in is brick veneer and has great access under but not so great in the cieling.
Will the air con work just as well if I run all ducting etc under the floor and blowing through floor vents placed around the walls.( do not want the large wall mounted units in each room)
Pros and cons would be appreciated.

Cool in summer and warm in winter.
