Need inspiration for a odd shaped room

I am looking at a job which is in a dining room type area which links a hall and a kitchen.

The house has select grade blackbutt all through it, and the client wants to get rid of the carpet out of this room and maybe install a feature floor of some sort.

I have suggested something other than just parquetry and maybe something in a darker colour to offset the lighter coloured blackbutt.

I have attached a dodgy drawing of the area which mya give you some ideas. There are windows on almost every wall apart from the two open door areas.
