deck joists support??

Hi All

I am building a low level deck, so much so that I have had to dig trenches for the bearers (governed by our/neighbours fence height).
As the deck is low level I have the option of resting the joists on ground level (as we all the bearers (1400 ctrs) to give additional support and give a solid feel (as I opted for 90x45 MGP10 joists, due to the height restriction).

So should I rest the joists (H3) on the ground and protect the joists with 'diggers eco in ground protection' or (& my concern) will the protection break down over time (how long?) and then rot the joists?

Any thoughts much appreciated.
