Hi everyone. Please bear with me, new to the forum and very happy I found it. I'm wanting to get back into woodworking, in particular wood turning although I haven't done anything with it since school 16 years ago.
I just have a question regarding lathes, I'm wanting to buy a wood lathe, Is GMC an ok brand to start off with or should I not even bother and save for a better quality one like JET? And are there any classes in Gold Coast/Brisbane area? I'm in Yatala. I need to get all the basics back again.:-

GMC lathe does not have the greatest reputation in the world but can be had very cheaply if you can find one. If you are not in a desperate hurry to buy a lathe, then by all means hang on until you can afford something better like the Jet as dai sensei suggests. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
