If they were both on at the same time, I'd watch the Aussie one now. I think that as they settle the show is improving. I just want to see the Stig do a lap in a Leyland P76.

Last night's episode was, in my opinion, the worst to-date. It was one long embarrassment, relieved only by the closing credits.

Yeah, thought it was starting to improve, but the last one went back to the bottom.

:woot: The Real Top Gear back next week:england:

So reading the posts here the consensus is that Pom's do it way better than Aussie's:D

Do I dare wonder what the USA one went like:roll: do I care

Ok I did a search and seems USA Top Gear is dying http://www.savetopgearusa.com/drupal/?q=blog/3 also on the same Blog page announcement that a Russian Top Gear is to be made.

Anybody catch last monday nights episode. I turned off after the sendup of the ad where they were bouncing things off a trampoline. The car Vs. jet ski race to Portsea was a wank, don't know who won, don't care. What a load of rubbish.

He must be having a quiet laugh or vomiting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are still a joke and will wish they were axed after the first one!!!!!!!!!!!

Funny, TBO and I both agreed that it was the best episode to-date. I think the trumpeter is infinitely less noxious than blondie-no-brain was. The humour is infantile compared to the original masters', but it was just watchable - IMO.

Was an improvement nice to see the up market car given the stick agree the wave runner bit was crap they killed the "What were they thinking wall" :2tsup:

The old commercial for Holden was still as bad as when they made it.

Not one word about Ford or Holden :D hoooorrray

They'll never get to UK Top Gears level.

Just as cringe worthy as The Footy Show, now all it needs is some scandal

I watched two or three episodes last season, and thought it stunk, but thought that I would give it another try on Monday night.

That unfortunately is one hour of my life that I will never get back!!

No more for me thanks. :yuk:

I aldo agree that James Morrison is a valuable addition. They are never going to be as good as the UK version, but will still show some cool sheyet.

I think I detect some cultural cringe. :oo:

James Morrison will never live this rubbish down.

What these guys should do, before filming commences, is get pi$$ed. Loosen up a bit. Everything about the program seems too contrived and stage managed. There is very little, or no, spontaneity as there is in the pommie version. They try to hard too emulate the poms. Its a different culture here and SBS has lost sight of that. The British seem to have tapped into a format and the right personalities to give TopGear UK a genuine global appeal. Punchy, humourous, informative and above all else, credibile hosts.

The guy with the depressed bottom lip and ratty mo needs a head transplant - has a great face for radio. Get him off.

If I was an car manufacturer I wouldn't let my marque anywhere near this lot of untalented chardy quaffers.

Rant Off.

I lacks a bit of punch, but it's not that bad. Jeremy Clarkson's a pretty difficult character to emulate. He's a charismatic fella. Don't you agree though that it's something to watch while they're making the next round of UK episodes?

This (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Crompton) guy would be my first pick as main presenter for Oz Top Gear. He's a natural in front of the camera, he can drive AND he knows what he's talking about.

Neil is a font of motoring knowledge and has an unparalleled (in the realm of drivers) technical brain. However, he's as dull as matte paint and he would lend nothing to the vitality and humour of the program. IMO.

Dunno about that Woodwould, I thought that he fitted in really well on RPM. Maybe time has had it's way with my memory, wouldn't be the first time .

I dunno how many of you have watched the first 2 seasons of UK Top Gear, because if you had, you would be giving Aussie Top Gear a better go. The UK Top Gear was awful, it took about 5 Seasons to become interesting and 8 Seasons to become great.

It takes a long time to build a decent inter-action and these guys have potential to grow into themselves, of course its never going to rival UK Top Gear, they have 12 seasons headstart and a budget a small nation would be proud to have.

James Morrison should also do well on the show as like most average drivers, he vastly over-estimates his skills.
They should also do what UK Top Gear did to their black Stig and kill the Aussie Stig to get another one that can drive, the current one is waaaaaaaaaaay to busy at the controls to be getting maximum speed, look at UK Stig, smooth as silk at the controls and very, very quick.

Yes I've watched the first couple of series of Top Gear UK and it was crap. I very much lost interest in the first series here because it was worse. Watched it Monday night and it was a little better. So I'll maybe watch some more. Still think the best 3 hosts would have been me, Gillie and Fitzy. Much better all round (especially for me!).
