I want to finish my work nicely but simply. Steve good says regarding finishing scroll saw work to:

"Sand the edges to round them over and finish to your liking. I use lemon oil then finish with spray lacquer". Steve Good is at http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/

Now that seems easy enough to me. But can someone recommend some brands of both lacquer and oil. A quick how to do it put simply would be good too please.

G'day Mike - Sand then finish with a very weak coat of Dewaxed White Shellac (http://www.ubeaut.com.au/dewaxed.html), sand very lightly with finest grade abrasive, 1200 grit Wet 'n' Dry is best then apply a second coat of the same brew and it's done. No colour change, no gloss to take away from the fret work and a protective coating that takes minutes to do and looks and feels absolutely amazing.

One 500 ml bottle will do many, many, scroll sawn works of art.

Cheers - Neil :)
