It looks like a good thing to me ... anything that stops sale of fake goods can't be all bad.
Agree?

I think it is just another case of a French court trying to bash anything that is not French, which seems to be pretty standard - remember the Rainbow Warrior.
The fault with the decision, in my opinion, is that EBay never has a chance to physically examine the goods, and is therefore unable to determine if they are fake. The sale of fake goods goes on all the time thru' auction houses like Christie's & Sotherby's - when the fake is detected, unless there are extraordinary circumstances, the buyer is refunded & the seller is billed for the costs.
EBay, for all their other faults, actually act reasonably responsibly & remove lots which they are notified are fake. So one could argue on the same grounds that the French companies are colluding to assist in the sale of fakes of their own products by not going out & checking that all the lots offered on EBay are genuine - an obviously impossible task - and in failing to notify EBay of which lots are fake.
I suspect EBay will appeal, and we will never see the result of the appeal if EBay win.
