Can anyone recommed a good tiler in Perth?
Work has become pretty busy lately and I need to get the bathroom done in the next few weeks, Id rather use someone recommeded than some random out of the book.

Hi Waks

Good luck, I was looking 3 weeks ago, can not even get one out to quote. I gave up on a quote just asked how $ per day / hr / mtr, apparently about $450 per day, so I just booked him - earliest he can fit me in 1/12/07.

I will give you a couple of no.s anyway, they may have a cancellation etc etc.

Paul - 0403 257 930 - he just did a job for a girl friend in Baldivis, he operates out of rockingham, so he'll be ok if your sth of the river.

Stuart - 0432 416 751 - this is the one I've booked so he won't be available until dec some time at the earliest. I got his name from craft decor in freo.

Otherwise, ring your local tile shops.:2tsup:

I just had Hank 0402 658 817 and Robert 0429 702 311 do the walls that I procrastinated about for 9 months. They did a great job and are fantastic blokes. Tell them you got their numbers from Mike in Kalamunda.

Some photos of their work here http://www.woodworkforums.com/showpost.php?p=590477&postcount=2

Neither, by the job. They come and look and then quote.

Mine said roughly $450 per day. Otherwise the tile shop said anywhere from $50 - $90 a sqm. I quess it has to do with how much prep work is needed and how much cutting ie: like around toilets etc. size of the tiles, I heard larger tiles cost more to lay? I find them easier than the small ones?

Hi,

I have just recently tiled my kitchen and laundry area in Perth...the tiler I used has 18 years experience in Singapore and Malaysia and he charges reasonably. If you are in Perth and you are looking to tile your house do contact him. He speaks basic English, but his workmanship is really good.

Call Peter at 0433381179.

hi all
i hate to bag somebodies work but as i am sure that this thread will be viewed by people looking for a tiler ,i think it is right to made the following comments .

i have just had hank and rob do my bathroom and i would advise people not to let them have a go at your floor tiles (wall tile yes but floor tiles no)

i had to get them to relay about five tiles as i did not want to stub my toe evey time i was in the bathroom or toilet . And a number of the tiles have different size gaps between them .
i think i am a bit anal when it comes to tiling but it is what makes the bathroom and when you are paying somebody to do a job you should not have to keep inspecting there work .

Thanks for the comment Jags.
We may be looking for a tiler next on our list of reno's 'to do list' and I don't think it is a matter of bagging someone's work. In cases such as yours when it is an expense (no matter how big or small), you want the job done right.

The house we bought has 'mismatched tiles' on the walls (same colour, different pattern!!!) and different sized gaps between the tiles, both wall and floor.

I don't think you are being anal at all with this. I mean you do have to look at it every day and I know looking at our current 'feature tiles' it is driving me mad!

I would certainly want someone that has had good feedback on jobs they have done.

In this case if they are good at wall tiling, that's great. Not so good at floor tiling, maybe give it a miss :2tsup:

I had hank & Rob do mine and they did an ok job.

The walls and floor was done well but wouldnt say perfect. If they spent that little bit more on the finer details, it would be a great job.

They're minor issues & not worth a redo but they were where they grouted between the floor and walls as I had differnt coloured grout, the line wasnt straight in some areas and bled through. (white grout & grey grout so you cal tell)
And the mitre corner wasnt the cleanest as they used a handheld grinder to make it.
And most importantly they werent the cheapest so was expecting a perfect job.

I guess I was expecting to be blown away with the job quality as I didnt have the time to spare to do it myself, if I did take 2 weeks off work I think I would of come close to their work.

new work only, they're not into bath renos
They're not the cheapest, but they do a good job/ 20+ years exp

They will lay porcelain but they will want to inspect and cut the tile. Theres so much rubbish porcelain on the market, some too hard to cut, some bent to billyo, even the so called rectified porcelain once you get into the boxes. Don't assume the one off the shop shelf represents the quality you will receive, no matter how much you pay for it.

Dependent on schedule you may have to wait but breaks do happen
Don't ring the week before. Plan 6 weeks ahead if you can but don't be scared to ring.
