The Golden Bridge on ABC tonight

It looks like there's an interesting show on the ABC tonight at 10.30 called "The Golden Bridge"
A bit of googling brought up this site: -

That was pretty cool. I'd like to have worked on that.

The birch tree branch as a topping off reminded me of when we used to put a flag up when we'd finished pitching a roof. It meant that the builder wasn't allowed on site without a slab of beer under his arm. :wink:

I built some reasonable sized trusses for a gorgeous house I worked on at Whale Beach once. The flag went up on that roof and we got our beers. :D

I'd like to know how they used to build them without cranes. They'd have to build it in place somehow.:?

I accidentally watched the show when I woke up. Very interesting, the size of the beams and they all appeared to be A grade timber sorry lumber (Douglas Fir or Oregon). As has been said, it would have been great to work on.

Yep I thought of flooding, but when they showed footage of the overall town it appeared to be on a level field.

I know there are two things one never under extimates the strength of and they are flowing water and concrete when being poured.

One of the first things hydrologists should learn is Crawford Munro's Law: If you have had a flood, you will have a bigger one.

Its corollary is: If you have had a drought, you will have a longer one.
