Compressors handles

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the damned handles seem to be designed for no one over 3'6" tall, I hate towing the damned thing 30metres to the house scrunched up like a dwarf like quasimoto.
I know I can probably extend the handle but I still think the manufacturers should display a little forethought.
And I am taliking about both the cheapy direct and the twin cylinder belt drive:mad:

Its not just compressors - have you ever tried to find a shopping trolley that is made to accomodate the 'average' Aussie bloke? They seem to be made for the seven dwarfs, or at least grannies - even one of my female friends complains that they make the things too short for Aussie girls too.

Its not just you, Iain. My compressor is the same and as its a 10cfm beastie, I'm not about to try to pick it up and carry it anywhere as I did when I much younger.:D Having to lift it into and then out of my car on a weekly basis is bad enough.:eek:

My ironing board and vacuum cleaner also aren't tall enough or long enough respectively for me. I wish manufacturers would start adjusting the size of their products and not just to suit we blokes either. Has anyone noticed just how tall the current teenagers are? It seems to me that a much greater percentage of them are over 6' tall than is the case with we boomers, and that's just the girls!:eek:

to add to that you can also include extendable handles for suitcases. Being 6' 4" it's too damned far to the handle to comfortably use it. MIL when I picked her up from the airport (should leave her there sometimes :eek: :D , no we love her) and says to me a few weeks ago along the lines of "use the handle to pull it." "No", " relpy I'll carry it" might be heavy to carry, but bugger being Quasimoto trying to pull the ruddy thing.

It's stuff out of China, that's the problem, built for 4' nothing, so of course they can pull the compressor, push the trolley etc. :mad:

What about keypad size's on mobile phones... not much good for workers hands... my thumb cover's the whole keypad on the non-folding types!

I'd imagine the size of the compressor handle is not much taller than the compressor itself for shipping reasons. Adding a longer handle would greatly increase the box size/compressor footprint meaning less units per crate, and higher shipping cost per unit, meaning higher retail price. But yeah, I agree, longer handle would be nice. Maybe they just need to design a removable handle you can lay in the box flat and add it later via some mechanism that matches the strength of a welded joint?
