O.K, we've had the favorite song and the worst song, so what is the song you find the most disturbing?

For me, it's Robert Johnson's 32-20 Blues :

If I send for my baby, man, and she don't come,
Send for my baby, man, and she don't come,
All the doctors in Hot Springs sure can't help her none.

If she gets unruly, thinks she don't wanna do,
She gets unruly, thinks she don't wanna do,
Take my 32-20, boy, cut her half in two.

She got a .38 special but I believe it's most too light.
.38 special but I believe it's most too light.
I got a 32-20 to make the camps all right.

If I send for my baby, man, and she don't come,
Send for my baby, man, and she don't come,
Them doctors in Hot Springs sure can't help her none.

Gonna shoot my pistol, gonna shoot my gatling gun.
Gonna shoot my pistol, gotta shoot my gatling gun.
You made me love you, now your man have come.

Ow, baby, where you stay last night?
Ow, baby, where'd you stay last night?
You got your hair all tangled and you ain't talking right.

Got a .38 special, boy, it do very well.
Got a .38 special and it do very well.
Got a 32-20 now, it's a burning hell.

If I send for my baby, man, and she don't come,
I send for my baby, man, and she don't come,
All the doctors in West Point sure can't help her none.

Ow, baby, where'd you stay last night?
Ow, baby, where'd you stay last night?
You didn't come home till the sun was shining bright.

Ow, boy, I just can't take my rest,
Ow, boy, I just can't take my rest,
With this 32-20 laying up and down my breast.

For me the most disturbing is Abel Meeropols "Strange Fruit" best know rendition by Billy Holiday. It was recognised as the very first protest song and also the first song to be baned on radio. Its in relation to the lynching and burning of Black Americans in the South. Its a realy a horrible song to read the lyrics, and very unsettling if you get to hear Billy Holiday sing it:(

Southern trees bear strange fruit

Blood on the leaves and at the root

Black bodies swingin' in the Southern breeze

Strange fruit hangin' from the poplar trees

Pastoral scene of the gallant South

The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth

Scent of magnolia, sweet and fresh

Then the sudden smell of burning flesh

Here is the fruit for the crows to pluck

For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck

For the sun to rot, for the tree to drop

Here is a strange and bitter crop

or anything written by Paul McCartney without John Lennon's input.

Some people wanna fill the world with silly love songs.....

Now THAT IS REALLY DISTURBING !

UGH ! I rest my case.

(this is getting sad. When my wheat bag is finished in the microwave, I'm orf ) :)

The most disturbing for me today was one of those bloody Human Nature Soppy Motown covers, played by my neighbour's kids at 7.00, about three hours after I'd got to bed!

Can't get more disturbing than that!

"bittersweet symphony" by the verve.

It was played at the funeral of a good mate a few years ago. He was the sort of bloke that would always give a hand to anyone that asked and never expected and often refused anything in return. There are many of us that really missed him and that song reminds not only of the loss of a truely great bloke but unfortunately human decency is dying:(
