I put a new flash telly aerial sticky up thing on my roof yesty, got lotsa channels from SA and VIC now..... Question, which channels DON'T have the bluddy Conningwealth Games? I want to avoid the flamin' things as much as possible if possible cos they could possibly drive me potty! Any other tips, apart from self immolation, which may assist me in my attempt to avoid anything "Gamey" would also be very welcome.....

Any other tips, apart from self immolation,

Just pour the petrol over yourself and sit in the sun sulking.

You old grump. Sit down and enjoy the games like everyone else will be. Cripes, what could be better than wasting an evening watching the same race over and over and over and over again. And don't forget all the brain dead dollyheads presenting the same race over and over and over again ... can anyone lend me a fiver for a tin of petrol?

Richard

Wait until one of those brain dead dollyheads comes on the screen and then put a brick through the telly. That'll make ya feel better.

You blokes are all a bit harsh.

Have you seen a Teev programme for the current week?

Is there anything showing on any channel that could even come close to watching the 1500 (in any event) four thousand times?

Why are all events called "the 1500" anyway? Ever noticed that??

"I'm running in the 1500"

"Oh!"

"I'm in the 1500 tiddlywinks shoot vault"

P (Give me 1500 reasons why I should own a tele!)

Puddle Duck 1500 World ChampionSHIPS

They didn't have puddle ducks in the year 1500. However, a similar event was held and won buy a bald bugger with a funny birthmark on the back of his head. He was paddling a leather coracle, paddled like mad he did ... which you tend to do with a longboat of vikings on your tail :D

Now I'm depressed.

I'm supposed to be finishing the blasted things, and I just know I'm going to be sucked in to the tele to watch the 1500.

:( :( :(

Rip the aerial down
or
channel surf ... thought you guys were good at it
or
post the remote to a friend overseas and ask for it to be returned ... by the time you get it back, the games should be over
or just go buy a flippin' TV guide  :D

Cheers

"You old grump. Sit down and enjoy the games like everyone else will be."

EVERYONE ELSE? I think not old son. Like the original poster I have better things to do with my time. It may be mildly OK the first time ( if you REALLY like synchronised swimming, or something equally rivetting), but after the 50th repeat from our "expert-on-every-bloody-thing" in the studio, who, in reality has never set foot out of Woy Woy (no insult intended Woy Woyians), I get an almost irresistable urge to kill something! ANYTHING!

There.....Gasp! I feel much better now. Where's the bluddy beer?

The foregoing adequately expresses my thoughts on the subject.
No further comment is deemed necessary. Enough said:D

I, not having access to cable/satelite TV, have laid in a supply of DVDs & good books, for those hours of the day when the neighbours might object to my crashing about in the garage trying to convert it into a workshop - crashing about because the only light fitting has decided to give up the ghost - now I'll HAVE to get a sparky in to fix it, and I probably should get some more fluoro's put in as well, and some permanent powerpoints and..............

You cant escape them.. I promise. When the olympics were on She who and I went all the way to mongolia, We were just about to go to sleep, when the old lady running the B&B where we were staying, came running into the room, waving her arms and saying the only word of English she new, over and over. "AUSTRALIA".

We came running expecting something nasty had just happened, and it was just the !@#$% opening ceromany.

We wnt to the furtherest place from Sydney we could think of to getr away from it and... The !@#$ thing followed us

What games?

I don't see no stinking games around here, except maybe mind games with the fruitloops on the roads...

(Adds another reason for being here, right now. ;) )

Actually it's what would have happened to me if my beloved had come home and caught me in the middle of this. (http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/showthread.php?p=277602#post277602)

But I lived to tell the tale, and catch the games updates on the news to boot!
