Hi Everyone, I’m new to both Townsville and woodworking. I’ve always had an interest in making things from wood and never really had time or opportunity to do it. Just settling into Townsville and hoping to setup a small workshop in the garage as a hobby. Anyway looking forward to learning heaps from this forum.

Hi Wallydog,

Welcome to the forum. I was about to introduce myself since I just joined myself, but saw yours first. I wasn't sure if it was cheeky for a complete newbie to respond to another newbie, but hey, I thought "Why not? There's no harm".

Hi, my name is Hamish, (some call me harmo) and I'm in Canberra. (Don't blame me for anything Governmental, I'm one of the few here who don't work for that mob).

So you're starting out? I'm playing catch up on the woodworking front in so many ways myself. I don't exactly have a workshop, but I have accumulated tools through completing one project at a time... and inheriting tools from numerous sources.

Any particular wood working projects/goals you have in mind? Just trying to figure out where you are in your journey (some people say they're "new" but are amazing, while others have years of experience, but their skills are... "rusty"). No wrong answers.

Anyway I hope you're well in these crazy times.

Harmo.

Hey Harmo,
Good to hear from you. I am a complete newbie, still getting tools and starting to plan how I’m going to setup in my garage. We have recently returned from living overseas for the past 5 years and have just bought a house. But given we sold everything before we left we have no furniture snd the misus wants a number of projects done. Just little things like bedside tables, bookshelves wardrobe shelves, etc. So I thought what the heck and am jumping in the deep end and starting the woodworking journey.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Cheers
