Hi all, I've been a silent reader for a while but this is my first time posting here. I'm planning to make a simple hall table using walnut veneer MDF for the main carcass & lower shelf, and Tas Oak for legs, aprons & stretchers. Are there any combinations of stain products that will make the Tas Oak or any of the similar eucalypts variants to somewhat match walnut? Of course it will be almost impossible for a 100% match, but I'm trying to get it close enough.
Here's a recent project of mine with multiple mismatched timber species and this time I'm trying to make a more uniform looking one. The carcass & doors are two different timber veneered MDF (not sure of the species) that I salvaged for free on Facebook, aprons are Tas Oak from Bunnings, legs salvaged from unknown hardwood bed slats and edgings are real walnut iron-on from Amazon. Everything was finished with cheapo hardwax oil from Bunnings.
