Just got smashed by a hailstorm

Monster hailstorm just came through. Reports of 5cm hail - ours was about 3cm.

Was your car out in the middle of it? Saw heaps of damage in the Kellyville area on the tele this evening, hail the size of nectarines with really sharp and jagged bits which caused all sorts of havoc with car windscreens etc.

Looks like you have a job ahead of you, unless it is worthwhile claiming on insurance.

What crazy weather Australia has been having. Here in Melbourne we have had a relatively mild summer, although we had two days with torrential downpours.
Other parts of the country have had days of 40 degrees plus, and / or storms.

Hope all members are not suffering too badly.

Plenty of noise, but it didn't really happen as required, and there were two....count them....two hail stones.

Your damage doesn't look as bad as it could have been Peter. Maybe rip the sheet off and replace it?

We've been in a drought for the last 5 years or so. During the last few weeks we've made up for it.

A very contentious water issue during the 1960s and 1970s, 'The Feather River Project' required a dam on Lake Oroville. We've had so much rain that the lake is full and the spillways are open. Poor design and maintenance have these spillways failing due to the water release.

The contentious issue? As always, Southern California is "stealing" Northern California's water. What does Northern California do with "their" water? They let it run out into the ocean through the delta and San Francisco Bay.

A famous quote, "Whiskey is for drinking; water is for fighting over" has been attributed to many but none the less is very accurate.

I do prefer the former rather than the latter from the tap.

We copped the hailstorm, only lasted a few minutes and the hailstones melted within a few minutes, but it was a doozie. We didn't get any damage from the 30mm hailstones, but they shredded the pumpkin leaves in the garden.

Myself and Dave TTC drove through what could only be termed as an ice storm last year north of Wollongong, he may chip in and describe the experience. I was a professional driver for many years and it was the worst thing I have ever been involved in on the road. We simply could not see beyond the windows of the car and I thought the car would have been hammered but it did not have a mark on it when we looked at it later.

That's one of 10 sheets that got hammered. They are the UV filtering Suntuf brand. Interesting thing is at the other end of the pegola I have 3 sheets of clear alsynite that were installed at the same time that have no damage:?

A fire truck falling off the Interstate.

We had a couple of bad brush fires in that area over the last couple of years. Rain caused some erosion and the edge of I-15 was not a safe place to park your fire truck. :) The good news was that no one was hurt.

BTW - If you know the area it is slightly north of where SR-138 crosses I-15. (LA to Las Vegas)

Roof was replaced today. Even replaced three clear sheets that weren't damaged but were as old as the others. I asked the gent that originally came out whether they woukd use anti noise tape (which wasn't used on the original roof) and he said they would as the job would be done as if it was a new installation. I asked the guy today whether they would be using the anti noise tale and he said no. They had strict instructions from the insurance company only to replace to original standard.
Anyway, new roof looks great and I can take the tarps. off the outside furniture I built.:2tsup:

I think your experience with the insurance company roof repair was heaps beeter than mine of a couple of years ago....well done!!
