We're moving. We haven't bought a new house yet and its likely we are going to be building.

I know nothing about building. I have been looking at project home designs and haven't seen anything I like. The place we are likely to move to is coastal, and we would like to be within a street or two of the water, and most of the blocks there are mildly sloping with some views. We would like something that complements the seaside location, a bit more then the average project home which all seem to have boxy suburban designs. I don't necessarily want to go down the route of an architectural masterpiece (due to both cost and time)- so I'm just wondering if there is a project home builder out there with designs on its books which are a bit more sympathetic to a coastal location? Google hasn't turned them up.

Or maybe I shouldn't be looking at project homes at all. i haven't even considered issues of build quality and finish, so I'm leaving those aside for the moment and just thinking about design.

Cheers

I know it sounds a bit far fetched but have you looked at kit homes? There are some really nice designs out there and they tend to be a bit different, wide verandahs, large eaves etc.

This builder doesn't operate in NSW, but some of these designs might be what you are looking for?

Hadn't thought of that.
